| Thanks to everyone
who participated in and supported the first Winter Solstice Art
Exhibition and Festival, held at The Old Schoolhouse. It's over! We had
some amazing events, a superb exhibition, workshops, concert, rituals,
discussions, film nights and more. The list below thanks people for
their contribution - I'm sorry if anyone is left off. We'll have photos
soon. We're already talking about doing it again next year (2007), with a few changes. We've learned a lot about what needs to change or improve and we'll be working on it over the next year. The organising group: Brooke, Lilitu and Liz Pagan Art Exhibition The following artists took part in the exhibition and exhibited a fantastic collection of painting, drawing, artifacts, photography, wood carving: Geoff Byng, Kara DeFey, Darren, Lilitu Babalon, Liz Phillips, Brooke Alexander, Geir Fokstuen, Bob Phillips, Gypsy Lee, Patricia Wheatstone, Viv Martin, Balen, Selina Tischer. Solstice Ritual Thanks to Reigh and Matt who organised the Yule Blot, an Asatru Winter Solstice Ritual. It was one of the highlights of the Festival. Concert and workshop with Wendy Rule Both the concert and the workshop were also Festival highlights. We'd like to thank Wendy Rule and Rachel (on cello) for such a wonderful concert. They'll be back later in the year. Bardic Circle followed by Drumming Circle Another festival highlight which included fire twirling and a wonderful atmosphere. Pagan Discussion evenings THOM VAN DOOREN and GLENYS LIVINGSTONE both came to the festival to give a talk and discuss aspects of their work as Pagans. Thom is an editor of and contributor to Pagan Visions for a Sustainable Fututre and Glenys talked about the issues raised by her book PaGaian Cosmology. Both discussions were excellent and well worth going along to. The Crossroads team are aiming to hold future discussions on Pagan-related topics Witches Meetup Tammy organised a Witches Meetup just days after returning from overseas - another excellent discussion. WORKSHOPS: Thanks to all the workshop facilitators for the time andfeffort they put into their workshops andthe festival: Balen (Tarot), Sylph Hawkins (Elemental Arts), Gypsy Lee (Tea Leaf reading) and Wendy Rule (Using Voice in Ritual). The whole festival has inspired us to continue workshops here. See the events page for forthcoming workshops and discussions at The Old Schoolhouse. Final thanks to others who helped during the festival, especially with with cooking, setting up, looking after the exhibition and doing the various things that made the festival possible: Chris and Selina, Keith, Sue. Thanks to Ariel, Laura-Jane and Natasha for their support of the markets, and to everyone who came along to the events and made the Festival a success. |
