Politics & the Occult: The Left, the Right and the
Radically Unseen by Gary Lachman ISBN: 9780835608572 Paperback, $40 More books on POLITICS are HERE |
We don’t usually associate the gritty
business of politics with the occult, but esoteric beliefs have
influenced the “destiny of nations” since the time of ancient Egypt and
China, when decisions of state were based on portents and astrology.
Gary Lachman shows how occult ideas continue to shape modern political
philosophy. He also asks whether the separation of church and state
characterizing modern political philosophy should be maintained. Other
topics include: • The occult roots of America and the French Revolution in Freemasonry. • How nineteenth-century spiritualism empowered the women’s rights movement by giving women a voice. • The influence of early Theosophists H. P. Blavatsky, Annie Besant, and Henry Steel Olcott on the rise of Indian nationalism; how Theosophy helped stop the spread of communism. • The watershed of World War I, which brought about the rise of right-wing occult streams that led to Germany’s National Socialism; the truth about Hitler’s belief in the occult; Gurdjieff and the swastika. • Soviet interest in UFOs; ESP in the Kremlin; the CIA and LSD. • The dawning of the Age of Aquarius; levitating the Pentagon in the 1960’s. The millenarian politics that seem to inform the US struggle with Islamic terrorists; fundamentalism and the fear of uncertainty. From the first Queen Elizabeth’s Dr. Dee to Ronald Reagan’s astrologer, Lachman’s view is fresh and conscientious, avoiding wild speculation, proving him of the best and most intelligent writers on these matters in the English-speaking world. |

The Voudon Gnostic Workbook by Michael Bertiaux ISBN: 9781578633395 $79.90 |
A long-awaited new edition of the seminal
text on the spiritual system that is a convergence of Gnosticism and
Haitian voodoo, The Voudon Gnostic Workbook is a singular sacred work
that is comprehensive in scope—from “how to be a lucky Hoodoo” to how
magick and voodoo intersect energetically, to esoteric time travel.
Complete with charts and graphs and instructive interdimensional physics, The Voudon Gnostic Workbook is an “object of desire” among students of the occult. Weiser’s long-anticipated republication of this rare text will be an event in the annals of esoteric publishing, as the book itself is somewhat of an “unholy grail.” There are listservers devoted to it and much discussion of the mysteries held within its pages. While The Voudon Gnostic Workbook has remained a controversial book considered important for masters of metaphysics, it recently came into popular culture and renewed popularity when Grant Morrison revealed it had been the inspiration for his cult comics The Invisibles, using the cribbed time travel from Bertiaux’ s masterwork. Voodoo is not an evil religion and is much misunderstood. It derives from the Dahomean Gods called the “Loa.” Esoteric voodoo is actually a highly practical procedure for leading us into making contact with the deepest levels of our being and most ancient modes of consciousness. Michael Bertiaux’s Voudon Gnostic Workbook is the most comprehensive and illuminating contemporary book on the subject. Launched out of a correspondence course and series of classes for students and followers of Voudon Gnosticism and the OTO, this seminal text is at once one of the most mysterious and magnificent of all esoteric books. |

Learning Ritual Magic by John Michael Greer, Clare Vaughn & Earl King Jr. ISBN: 9781578633180 $35 |
Learning Ritual Magic is a training manual for anyone serious about
improving their magic based on the western mystery traditions, including
tarot, ritual magic, Qabalah, and astrology. “What you get out of
[magic] can be measured precisely by what you are willing to put into
it—and time is the essential ingredient in successful magical training,”
the authors write. And just as no one expects to run a marathon or play
a Bach violin concerto without sufficient training, so practitioners of
the magical arts shouldn’t expect to work complex, powerful magical
rituals without a solid grounding in the techniques of Hermetic high
magic. By spending at least a half hour a day practicing the lessons
found in Learning Ritual Magic, the solitary apprentice attains the
proper groundwork and experience for working ritual magic. Learning Ritual Magic provides lessons on meditation and a set of exercises designed to develop basic skills in imagination, will, memory, and self-knowledge, all of which are absolute fundamentals to magical attainment. While the authors discuss the essentials of magical theory, they focus on daily, basic perspectives rather than launching into details of advanced practice. |

Languages of Witchcraft: Narrative, Ideology and
Meaning in Early Modern Culture edited by Stuart Clark ISBN: 9780333793497 $28 More books about History are HERE |
Different conceptions of the world and of reality have made witchcraft possible in some societies and impossible in others. How did the people of early modern Europe experience it and what was its place in their culture? The new essays in this collection illustrate the latest trends in witchcraft research and in cultural history in general. After three decades in which the social analysis of witchcraft accusations has dominated the subject, they turn instead to its significance and meaning as a cultural phenomenon - to the 'languages' of witchcraft, rather than its causes. As a result, witchcraft seems less startling than it once was, yet more revealing of the world in which it occurred. |

The Alchemical Mandala by Adam McLean ISBN: 1890482951 $29.90 |
Mandalas have been recognized as important
tools in Eastern spiritual traditions for focusing meditation. Though
various Western traditions possess such mandalas for contemplation, they
have not often been recognized as such, except by those deeply schooled
in Western esotericism. Adam McLean remedies this by presenting and
analyzing in great depth, over forty beautiful engravings, reproduced as
full-page illustrations, from alchemical, kabbalistic, magical,
Rosicrucian, and Hermetic sources.
This second edition of the first book
exclusively dedicated to the mandala tradition in the West is an
extremely valuable sourcework for its illustrations and commentaries.
Not only is it a comprehensive guide to reading the cosmological and
spiritual symbolism of alchemical engravings, it also outlines three
ways for working with these mandalas as spiritual exercises.

The Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy edited by Stephen Skinner $50 (rrp is $69.95) ISBN: 9780892541003 |
This book is a milestone in Western magical
practice. Often erroneously called a forgery, it is in fact six separate
books in one, the first two being by Agrippa (1486–1535). One of them,
Of Magical Ceremonies, is Agrippa’s clearest step-by-step formulation of
how to perform an evocation, much more openly expressed than in his
Three Books of Occult Philosophy. In addition there is the key grimoire,
Of the Magick of the Ancients by Arbatel, which clearly defines the
different types of magic, focusing on the invocation of angels and of
the Olympic spirits. The Heptameron by Peter de Abano is a complete,
self-contained set of instructions for conjuration of spirits according
to the day of the week. Also included is Villinganus’ work on the nature
of spirits, illusions, prophecies, and miracles, and how they may be
used. Two complete geomancies (one by Agrippa) complete the volume, which has been reset in modern type and edited with a commentary by Stephen Skinner. |

The Kingdom of Agarttha - A Journey into the Hollow
Earth by Marquis Alexandre Saint-Yves d'ALVEYDRE ISBN: 9781594772689 $24.90 |
First English translation of the book that
introduced the realm of Hollow Earth • Explores the underground world of Agarttha, sometimes known as Shambhala, a realm that is spiritually and technologically advanced beyond our modern culture • One of the most influential works of 19th-century occultism • Written by the philosopher who influenced Papus, Rene Guénon, and Rudolf Steiner The underground realm of Agarttha was first introduced to the Western world in 1886 by the French esoteric philosopher Alexandre Saint-Yves d’Alveydre with his book Mission de l’Inde, translated here for the first time into English. Saint-Yves’s book maintained that deep below the Himalayas were enormous underground cities, which were under the rule of a sovereign pontiff known as the Brahâtma. Throughout history, the “unknown superiors” cited by secret societies were believed to be emissaries from this realm who had moved underground at the onset of the Kali-Yuga, the Iron Age. Ruled in accordance with the highest principles, the kingdom of Agarttha, sometimes known as Shambhala, represents a world that is far advanced beyond our modern culture, both technologically and spiritually. The inhabitants possess amazing skills their above ground counterparts have long since forgotten. In addition, Agarttha is home to huge libraries of books engraved in stone, enshrining the collective knowledge of humanity from its remotest origins. Saint-Yves explained that the secret world of Agarttha, and all its wisdom and wealth, would be made available for humanity when Christianity and all other known religions of the world began truly honoring their own sacred teachings. |

Abrahadabra: Understanding Aleister Crowley's
Thelemic Magick by Rodney Orpheus ISBN: 9781578633265 $34.90 |
Thelemic magick, as it is practiced today,
is based on the works of Aleister Crowley. Those works can be dense, and
Crowley’s suggested course of study intimidating to beginners. In

approach is grounded in practice—you don’t need to read tomes before you
begin to meditate and participate in rituals and practical exercises and
manifestations. Abrahadabra is a perfect primer for anyone who is
curious to know what magick is all about, but it is also a wonderful
sourcework for those looking to augment their own Wiccan or pagan
practice with ritual magick or who seek a deeper understanding of
Crowley’s classic works. Rodney Orpheus is a practicing magician, an established musician, and a member of the band The Cassandra Complex, one of the most important electro-industrial bands of the past decade. He lives in London and travels extensively. This is his first book. |

The Book of Secrets of Albertus Magnus Edited by Michael best & Frank Brightman ISBN: 9780877289258 $36.90 Please note: colour of cover may vary slightly |
One of the most widely known works in a
literature which gained tremendous popularity during the Middle Ages,
The Book of Secrets--generally attributed to the thirteenth-century
philosopher Albertus Magnus--explores the mysterious properties, real or
imagined, of beasts, herbs, stones, and the human body. Presenting an
other world of information on how to cast spells and mix potions, this
fascinating volume speaks to our age as we experience a renaissance of
interest in the occult. Compiled in Latin near the end of the thirteenth century and translated into all major European languages, the book first appeared in English around 1550 and was subsequently reprinted many times over the next ninety years. The various sections, which include herbs, stones, beasts, astrology, and the "marvels of the world," offer wonderful descriptions of, for example, how to gather the Marigold herb in the month of August, wrap it in the leaf of a Laurel or Bay tree, and add a wolf's tooth to it in order to prevent anyone from speaking ill of you; or how to rid your home of mice by "perfuming" it with the hoof of a horse. Appearing at a time of growing knowledge and skepticism, this work served as a reminder that magic and the improbable still greatly interested much of the literate public. Even today, practitioners and students of the occult, as well as general readers, will delight in the marvelous treasures hidden in The Book of Secrets. |

Magic and the Power of the Goddess by Gareth Knight ISBN: 9781594772351 $25 More books on the Goddess and women's spirituality HERE |
A manual of magical and mystical techniques
for contacting the Goddess within. • Draws from two thousand years of source material to demonstrate the ongoing reality of the feminine power and its relevance for today. • Includes rituals, exercises, and techniques for evoking the Goddess. • Explains how the dynamics of the sacred or magic circle serve as a guide to living harmoniously. In this wide-ranging view of magic and ritual, Gareth Knight demonstrates the presence of the Goddess throughout Western esoteric traditions. From Greek myths and the Mysteries of Isis to the emergence of the cult of the Blessed Virgin and seventeenth-century Rosicrucian spiritual alchemy, he shows how the Goddess - the elemental consciousness of Earth - has revealed herself in different times and places. Honoring her many guises, Knight explores the powers of the Goddess as maiden, mother, initiator, protector, sorceress, and faery queen. Guided meditations on each of these qualities lead the practitioner into direct contact with the potent healing energy of the Divine Feminine. The author also offers rituals, exercises, and other practical tools for integrating the Western magical tradition with worship of the Goddess. He shows how we, and our planet, have suffered due to the repression of the feminine principle. For our own health, and that of our environment as well, we must recognize the power of the Goddess within to reconstitute and guide our existence. |

Aspects of Occultism by Dion Fortune Introduction by Gareth Knight ISBN: 9781578631865 $16.95 |
When Dion Fortune
wrote Aspects of Occultism, "occultism" was an umbrella word used to
describe hidden lore, secret traditions, and arcane knowledge. Today,
when the word "occult" is often confused for "cult," and all its
negative aspects, Fortune’s essays would be better referred to as
"esoteric studies." In this book she discusses evocative magic, the
sites of Druid worship, parallels between Christianity and the Qabalah,
the astral plane, auras, spiritual healing, power cycles, and our
relationship with the Higher Self. This revised edition includes a new introduction by Gareth Knight, an index, and an additional essay by Fortune—"The Myth of the Round Table." People familiar with Fortune’s work will love this book! |

The Magical Ritual of the Sanctum Regnum by Eliphas Levi Introduction by R.A. Gilbert $33.90 |
Eliphas Levi
(1810 - 1875) was the greatest innovator in the revival of Western
Occultism, most significantly with his great leap of imagination that
linked the tarot trumps to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet He set out his tarot theory in his book Transcendental Magic, but never revealed its magical application. This was finally made public in 1896 when Dr William Westcott - creator of the Golden Dawn magical order - translated and printed Levi's secret manuscript contained in this book. This book aligns the major arcana symbolism with a detailed description of the ritual of the sanctum regnum, or Kingdom Of God. Robert Gilbert's introduction details the history of the manuscript as it passed from Barton Spedalieri - Levi's friend, disciple, and literary heir - to Anna Kingsford and Edward Maitland and finally to William Westcott. He also discusses Levi's influence on the Golden Dawn, particularly upon Westcott. In addition to being an important text for ceremonial magicians, with Westcott's notes on the tarot trumps, this book provides esoteric insights for students of the tarot. |

Theurgy or The Hermetic Practice: A Teatise on
Spiritual Alchemy by E.J. Langford Garstin foreword by Edward Dunning $29.90 |
Theurgy means
”the science or art of divine works.” In alchemy, this process is called
the ”Great Work,” which is the purification and exaltation of our
”lower” nature by the proper application of esoteric principles, so that
it may become united with its higher counterparts, whereby we may attain
spiritual, and ultimately divine, consciousness. Drawing on the teachings of the Egyptian, Greek, and Hebrew mystery schools and quoting extensively from important alchemical writers, Garstin details this process of purification. **Students who are curious about alchemy but daunted by the body of its literature and its strange allegories will find this book to be an excellent introduction.** Garstin discusses source alchemical works and clearly explains what their esoteric symbolism means. With the information in this book, students of alchemy can then proceed to make a more informed exploration of the alchemical works and other writings of the Western Mystery Tradition. |

Magical Ritual Methods by William G. Gray ISBN: 0877284989 $39.90 |
Throughout the ages, the workings of magical
ritual have been shrouded in more secrecy than probably any other
subject. The peculiar secrecy surrounding magical practices is not
altogether intentional--how can mere description of the purely physical
aspects of ritualism possibly convey its deep significance? Knowing this
conciously or instinctively, practitioners of magical rites have
maintained silence or given such vague descriptions of their activities
that little practical use can be made of them. Now there is a guidebook,
intended for the Western student on the path of spiritual consciousness.
William Gray pulls all the "hows's" and "why's" of ceremonial magic
together in one volume and provides the student with practical means for
its proper operation and study. People are drawn toward ritual practice
because it fulfills a need on a deep spiritual level that nothing else
will fill. Gray shows us how to arrange and direct our own studies, and
gives us the basics to make magical ritual work for us, to extend our
human consciousness toward Truth and Light. |

The Equinox Vol.1 - set of 10 books Aleister Crowley 1992 Edition published by Weiser Hardcover Price on application Ph: 02 6230 2272 |
Used books in excellent
condition. Hardcover, with plastic cover but no sellotape or marks
INSIDE. A few marks on the outside – plastic covers have marks but
actual covers are clean. Each book has a bookplate from previous owner.
White covers, gold lettering on front and spine. This is the complete 10 volume set - was issued in a limited edition of 750 sets. Review from Amazon: This is THE set if you want to study Magick (which stems from meditation, yoga, using one's will). It helps the student a lot, especially in volumes 5 and 8 where he teaches Gematria and gives out lengthy examples as oppossed to 777. Definitely the longest read he has made, the 10 volume 1992 Weiser set is the one to look for. I had the 2 book set, and the spine of the book was unstable, and it just wasn't the same. With this, the text is nice and big, so it makes it so much easier on the eyes (which already hurt from meditating LOL). Watch out for the 1992 edition, only 750 of them were made and they are now precious jewelstones in the modern Magickians' life of study. 93 93/93 About the Author Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) combined scholarly rigor with a sense of humor and great literary ability to become the most widely read author in 20th-century occultism. He single-handedly redefined magick as a field of inquiry and endeavor through his books and the orders that he led--the A.A. and the O.T.O. In the 2002 BBC Great Britons poll in which over one million people voted, |

| The
Psuedonomicon by Phil Hine ISBN: 1561841951 RRP: $34.95, Our price $31.50, PAN Members: $28.35 |
First
published in a very limited edition in1994, and reprinted only once
since, The Pseudonomicon has been extremely difficult to find. By
special arrangement with Dagon Productions, New Falcon have
brought it back in this revised and expanded edition. Of The
Pseudonomicon the author says: "Disclaimer: It is generally agreed by experienced magicians that working with the Cthulhu Mythos is dangerous due to the high risk of obsession, personality disintegration or infestation by parasitic shells. Whilst giving this opinion due consideration, I have decided to release this material since, before the throne of Azathoth, questions of who is sane and who is mad become inconsequential." and: "Each god brings its own madness. To know the god---to be accepted by it, to feel its mysteries---well you have to let that madness wash over you, and through you. This isn't in the books of magic. Why? For one thing, it's all too easily forgotten, and for an other, you have to find it out for yourself. And for those who would sanitize magic, whitening out the wildness with explanations borrowed from pop psychology or science---well, madness is something that we still fear---the great taboo. So why did I choose Cthulhu---High Priest of the Great Old Ones---lying dreaming "death's dream" in the sunken city, forgotten through layers of time and water? It sounds so simple to say that I merely heard his "call"---but I did. Gods do not, generally, have a lot to say, but what they do say, is worth listening to." With a new Introduction and a completely new, and greatly expanded section on Banishing. |
